I - a strength of lobbying

Governments that succeed are subjected to constant pressure, or to the influence of lobbies of all kinds:

of different industries: pharmaceutical,  chemical, food industry, oil industry, ,etc...

The connection between the political and economical powers is evident.

Despite the results of the French Environment Round Table of 2008 were are able measure the influence of lobbies. France, being the forerunner in organic farming in the past, now turns out to be the problem child of Europe. Under the pressure of leading industrial groups that manufacture chemical fertilizers and other phytosanitary products,  generous subsidies are given to the farmers-polluters, whereas the farmers protecting the environment do not get any help from the government and are even forced to pay to get their certification, as it is in the case of organic farming. Logically the situation should be exactly the opposite.

Another example: Animals Rights Round Table in France in 2008: no significant result, because one more time the government didn't want to go against the financial and/or cultural interests of existing lobbies. Where was the lobby for the protection of animals?

However, some lobbies don't necessarily gather a lot of people (hunting) but they manage to continue their disgraceful practice by facing the opponents more numerous than them.

Definition

Generally speaking lobbying means to act close to the institutions holding the decisive power in order to:

- inform them

- present them with complaints

- try to direct or to influence their decisions.

We should find the same capacity of influence. In our case it's more than possible that  the first two stages will not be enough to get any result.

A lot of people are appalled by the life of animals enslaved by humans without mercy. Some people act on a local level, with all their generosity, some people join the associations with noteworthy actions, others feel powerless and don't know how to act. Unfortunately all of them notice the indifference or even hostility of power holders concerning the rights of animals, and everyone deplores their inability to make the situation change significantly and on a permanent basis.

The collective action of Ucare is the means to create a real synergy between the will power and the actions of people capable of provoking the desired results. The strategy of Ucare is clear: encourage  simple and legal actions, without wasting    time and money, the force of these actions will depend on the number of participants.  We are millions of people to protect the animals’ rights. It's high time to show ourselves and to speak, louder than some vocal minorities.

II  Our  actions  modalities

Two aspects:

1)  to accelerate the changing of minds

This point is prior to any lasting success.

Thus we want to adjust some steps of communication, cooperation and support to our ideas from a purely ethical point of view.

We would like the question of the animals’ well-being to be present in all the spheres of our society. To obtain it we intend to:

         -         act against  society (economical and political) so that they will satisfy our demands.

         -         practice our power of consumerism on the decision power holders. We'll try to interfere with their financial interests, until they take our demands into consideration.

         -         promote some actors of  our society, who show themselves ethical, by creating advertisements and brochures.

        -          act in the educational sphere by including information about animal rights in school programs.

        -          organize some cultural or other events (a musical festival, for example)

        -          use the possibility of referendum initiated by the population in order to obtain the result wherever it will be possible within the framework of the existing European agreement.

       -           To try to get some more realistic  information concerning the real conditions of the life of animals into the popular audiovisual media.

2)  to interfere with the interests of the society agents

In order to have any effective progress, the impact of our actions concerning certain activities of our opponents must be superior to the profits that they can get from these activities. Let's keep in mind that their only interests are in general about the finances or power, completely regardless of the well-being of their victims, even if they claim the opposite (furriers, intensive farming...).

Since we don't represent any turnover numbers or any electoral power united in a political party, our only influential power lies in our capacity to interfere with the turnover numbers of our opponents or with their chances to be elected. This capacity is performed by means of our consumer power, voting right and the liberty of expression.

From the moment when the evolution of one part of the economical balance of the companies depends on us and the election of politicians depends on our massive vote, we can hope that they will take our demands into consideration. On the international level, the boycott appeal against one country (products, trips) and the fact that its situation will be denounced by an internet site accessible to the population all over the world could have a certain influence if the number of our supporters is enormous.

Let's imagine the government of one country that receives one million letters or emails or telephone calls (0,017% of the world population) almost from all the countries with the demand to put an end on a situation with the risk of boycott. One million manifestations of this kind should have a considerable psychological impact on the institution that receives it. The key of such a good mobilization is a good organization, based on the principle of a structured network and on the motivation of all the supporters by means of the suitable communication. Internet makes it all possible in a very short time period.

Except for the raising of consciousness, our ideal is to obtain the systematic and spontaneous respect of living beings for the interest of everybody (animals, economical and political actors). In this case, our biggest victory will be realized when our opponents will solicit us before any action to avoid confrontation.
